AGA President Outlines Hopes For Recovery

(United States).- President and CEO Bill Miller of the American Gaming Association (AGA) has outlined his hope for the recovery of the gaming industry in AGA ‘s annual State of the Industry address on Tuesday at the 2020 Global Gaming Expo (G2E).

AGA President Outlines Hopes For Recovery

Throughout his remarks, Miller heralded the industry’s potential to recover stronger than ever, saying: “Gaming’s continued innovation, coupled with our deep-rooted culture of compliance, have our industry on solid ground as we continue our recovery.”

He also pointed to recent AGA research showing that more Americans regard gaming favourably as proof of a solid base for the recovery of the industry than ever before. Fifty percent of American adults have a positive view, up five points in two years, of the casino industry. In addition, nine in 10 (89 percent) adults consider gambling to be an appropriate form of entertainment.

“We have built this support over many decades,” added Miller. “As gaming has grown from two states in 1978 to 44 states today, more and more Americans have gotten to know us…They recognize the positive impact we deliver: The jobs we support; the small businesses we sustain; and the tax revenue we contribute…These are the reasons Americans have embraced gaming and they will fuel gaming’s recovery.”

Speaking to delegates, he proceeded to highlight the three goals of the AGA to unite the industry and help the revival of gaming, namely building champions on Capitol Hill, modernisation of payments and increasing the legal sports betting market.

Commenting on the role of the association in 2020, the 25th year of its anniversary, he said: “While COVID-19 may have shifted our plans, we never lost our focus. If anything, the pandemic has elevated AGA’s role as the leading advocate for the American gaming industry. No matter how big the challenge, we have always worked hard to help this industry overcome it. And I’m confident we can do it again.”
